Within six months of the current US administration beginning its four year term, this blog was established through the publishing of a small number of articles providing a critical look at the state of global affairs. Much of what was written about in those articles has proved to be completely accurate as of this writing in late April, 2011, almost two years later. This is a very sad fact for us all. Much (or perhaps even most) of humankind is currently engrossed in such a nihilistic-consumeristic-materialistic drive for absolute self-gratification that we are collectively destroying ourselves and even the whole planet.
This precious Earth is our only home. We need to take care of our home and gently treat it with respect. If we do not collectively begin doing this (and now!) then we may well not have a home left within even a handful of years. Yes, it could very easily be such a terrible outcome for all Earthkind, unless the necessary urgent positive changes begin to manifest in humanity on a global scale. What is needed is that we actually simply live up to one of the key meanings of the very word that is also our collective name: humanity. From Websters Dictionary, 1913, almost 100 years ago:
The quality of being humane; the kind feelings, dispositions, and sympathies of man; especially, a disposition to relieve persons or animals in distress, and to treat all creatures with kindness and tenderness.
It seems we have all but forgotten this beautiful meaning of “humanity”, yet what a wonderful definition and what an incredibly different and happier world it will be when we all collectively take responsibility for living up to this disposition! I am not at all talking about any kind of so-called “utopia” as that is only ever the dream of an idealistic and immature society operating on the basis of a materialistic belief that everything will “work out” for each and all of us. Unfortunately, that is not the nature of this place. Suffering and death is an always present reality for everyone on Earth, though there is certainly signficantly more suffering for the vast majority (of the now 6.9 billion people inhabiting the planet) who do not live in so-called “first world” countries.
Consider that the great majority of the human population is currently living in far more difficult conditions than the average conditions in the current “first world” countries. We know who we are (yes, we do) and it is time that we in the “first world” begin to demonstrate that we can be “first” at something other than contributing to the destruction of the planet with our never-satisfied self-possessed consumeristic drive. It is true that all of humankind is collectively responsible for the current situation, though there is an even greater burden of responsibility on each of us in the “first world” countries.
Given that we in the “first world” (who only account for around 1 in 5 of all human beings, or approximately 1.4 billion people) consume resources in amounts that are magnitudes greater per capita than most of the world population has ever so consumed (and will ever so consume) an extra burden of responsibility lies with us to change the current situation. It is absolutely not the right of those of us in “first world” countries to continue using the vast majority of every natural resource on the planet without regard to some 5.5 billion people who would also enjoy a better quality of life than they are currently experiencing!
We Must Maintain Right Emotional Response
Truly, the pandemic of apathy that has infected humankind altogether (not only in the “first world” countries) has been a critical factor in bringing about the current terrible situation we find ourselves in collectively. The World-Friend, Adi Da, describes the appropriate disposition that we must all maintain if we are to continue to grow individually and collectively [emphasis added throughout]:
The parental message of this world is always that you stop being difficult, that you suppress the emotions that create an unpleasant atmosphere. If human beings become overwhelemd at some point by the great Parental State, it will be because human beings will have renounced emotion, ceased to be angry, ceased to be even capable of anger.
. . .
If you fail to maintain understanding, your right appreciation, your right emotional response to the world as it is—and to yourself as you tend to be—then you will not grow. You will become benighted through the loss of emotion. You will look at the world, and it will all seem fine.
. . .
One who is angerless is exploitable. One who is angerless gives himself or herself up to the Parent-State, to the influences that control and exploit individuals abitrarily.
. . .
[N]ot to cooperate with destructive forces does not lead one to become an ascetic or a killer in one’s own right or a revolutionary righteously snuffing people out.
. . .
Do not submit to being destroyed, but love others, cooperate with others, live with others, communicate with others. This is what I advise you to do.
That is a perfect summary of the situation and the most excellent advice indeed. It is most certainly “we the people” who have the responsibility of maintaining this understanding and this cooperative disposition in human culture altogether. Only all of us together can ensure that the governing powers are accountable and responsible for the good of all, such that the policies of the day do not allow unnecessary mass suffering and death for any of Earthkind. Thus, every collective population in every country whose government is acting irresponsibly and destructively at the present time (which is actually almost every government on Earth) also shares the burden of that irresponsibility and destruction. So, we must all urgently assist in bringing about global cooperation such that the course of events can be positively transformed, by Grace.
Such a positive transformation absolutely does require Grace, too, from “a Power greater than ourselves [that can] restore us to sanity” (here quoting from the second step of the world renowned Alcoholics Anonymous “12 Steps” program). And here is the first step, as this is critical if we are collectively going to survive the coming years in anything other than a human-made hell-realm:
We admitted we were powerless over [our consumerism]—that our lives had become unmanageable.
A simple substitution of words makes a very powerful statement that anyone can understand about what actually needs to be acknowledged by all if we are to allow the healing process for humanity and indeed for all Earthkind to begin. Here are some incisive and summary statements on this matter from the World-Friend, Adi Da [emphasis added throughout]:
The modern “everyman” of consumer society is a propagandized individual, participating in illusions and, effectively, self-destructing.
The modern “everyman” is being created by the power system of the world, because it is in the interests of that power system for there to be consumer egos who are “self”-involved, “self”-seeking, and stupefied.
With these simple sentences, the polarised (or two-sided) dynamic of humankind in the current day is exactly summarised. The “power system” is certainly working to create the modern “everyman” who has been (consciously and unconsciously) participating in this propagandisation of themselves and of humankind altogether. Due to the very late hour we are in collectively, there is a profoundly urgent need for the modern “everyman” to wake up to this situation and take responsibility. This certainly includes non-participation with all that is destructive to any or even all of Earthkind.
Happy and sane relinquishment of our current mad consumerism is an absolutely key part of this process. Until we can happily let go of our constant more-more-more attitude that results in us shop-shop-shopping all the time for all that non-essential crap-crap-crap (that we have been propagandised into believing we really do want-want-want and even need-need-need) then the situation on planet Earth will certainly continue to deteriorate, as is now very rapidly happening.
What this actually requires of us all (and most especially of those in the “first world” countries) is an absolute turnabout from the attitude of constant and self-possessed seeking for gratification. Rather, what is needed is a disposition of positive and cooperative sacrifices of our over-consumption, for the good of all. And this most definitely cannot (and will not) take place if we remain collectively under the rule of the current “power system” that is playing such a significant role in the continuing destruction of everything.
Conspiracy Fact: “Power System” Working Towards Totalitarian Rule
Clearly, the “power system” of today is moving towards an end-game situation that could well result in most (if not all) life on Earth (including potentially billions of human beings) being sacrificed for the sake of the continuing and darkly self-possessed indulgence of an absolutely tiny minority. Such is really the potential outcome from this moment of history and only the force of true global cooperation (ultimately including the vast majority of the billions of human beings on Earth) will allow the possibility of a more benign future for all.
In late 2008, within a few weeks of the collective “hope” of people in the USA leading to the “change” of administration, it was already exceedingly obvious to me that the “new” administration was not only as bad as the “old” administration, it was in fact even worse! The game of “oppo–sames” is one way to describe it. Or the “good cop, bad cop” routine, which is nothing more than a common power-play that most of us understand well enough.
Perhaps it can also be described as the blue and red wings of a single psychotic and deadly eagle – no offence intended to the actual majestic birds themselves (merely making reference to the symbolism associated with the USA)! – that is leading the charge of the global corporate oligarchy (that is in fact the ruler of the whole world) in the insane drive for totalitarian rule. Really, the US administration is merely the biggest of the “front men” or “fall guys” for the “power system” of the world, with the “enforcement” arm being the US military (the military that currently costs the world untold resources and loss of life).
Ultimately, one cannot single out the USA or any other one country as the perpetrator of the global crimes against humanity (and indeed the Earth itself) that are taking place. One must really understand that the global corporate oligarchy is comprised of people from many different countries with many distinct backgrounds. These people in the positions of dominance and power today have no true lasting allegiance to any nation or state or group beyond the uses that such nation or state or group can have for their exclusive “club” and its purposes.
It is obvious to any observer with their eyes open that in this drive for such incredible power, the global corporate oligarchy is doing a very good job of killing off the human race and indeed all of life on this precious Earth. All the signs point to the fact that these dark people who are running the show at present could care less if billions of people die horribly. Many commentators can only conclude that there is indeed a genocidal intent behind the entire pattern of global crises at present.
“War of Terror” (not “War on Terror”)
The constant propaganda of the so-called “war on terror” (that should truly be called the “war of terror”) that is constantly regurgitated by the current “power system” is comprised of an incredibly Orwellian bunch of lies. It is in fact true that the current “power system” (or the engine of finance, military, pharma, biotech, and mass media that can also be called the global corporate oligarchy) that rules the world is actually the greatest terrorist threat to all life on Earth!
Simply observe the events of today and this conclusion is obvious. We are currently experiencing massive radioactive fallout on a global scale from several nuclear reactors in catastrophic condition . It is the greatest “dirty bomb” that the world has ever seen by many orders of magnitude and it is indeed a terror attack on all Earthkind by the “power system” that has sold us this insane technology for more than half a century . Unfortunately, this global corporate oligarchy only cares for gaining ever more power and profits, at whatever the cost to all of life on Earth (even ultimately including the “power system” itself!).
An obviously nihilistic and utterly destructive attitude is being clearly demonstrated by the current “power system” through this “dirty bomb” terror attack on all Earthkind. The fact that we are being constantly and systematically lied to relative to the real and immediate dangers of the radioactive fallout by the very same “power system” that is largely responsible for this terrible disaster only gives evidence to the fact that those who currently rule the world have truly genocidal intent.
Thus, the situation at this writing in late April, 2011, is indeed completely dire. It is in fact possible that this current catastrophe could potentially escalate to the degree that most (if not all) of life on Earth could end. The thousands of tons of deadly poison in only this handful of nuclear reactors is enough to kill all of humankind (and even all life on Earth) many, many times over if it ever makes it into the greater environment.
Nuclear Free and War Free World Required
One of the most urgent steps we must take as a collective is therefore completely obvious, which is to immediately (and with great and positive collective force) work towards the very clear outcome: a nuclear free world. Hand-in-hand with this necessary outcome is the need for an immediate end to all global military conflicts and wars as most of the energy of humankind and even the Earth itself is currently being wasted on this destructive and murderous insanity. This energy must instead be directed towards healing the “Earth-system” – inherently including all Earthkind (humans, animals, plants, and indeed all life on the planet) – from the destruction we have already wrought for too long a time!
These urgent outcomes will only come about through all of us being collectively and passionately (yes, passionately) involved with this process. The World-Friend, Adi Da, explains the current dire moment in explicit and immediately understandable terms:
The old moral, social, and political order of humankind is now dead.
This is the moment when it will be decided what the future is going to be.
The future is either going to be catastrophic disaster, or it is going to be the turnabout moment in human history, in which humankind will step out of its dark ages of “tribalism” into a new mode of human cooperative order.
The next handful of years is the period in which this choice has to be animated, one way or the other.
All generations now alive will have to make things right, or everything is lost.
. . .
If the global choas that is now happening is not re-organised by the force of truth, it is going to be done by other means—including totalitarian and dark materialistic means.
Humankind now needs to choose its collective survival and well-being in the real world, rather than determining its politics based on old mythologies.
There has to be a global understanding that world peace requires stepping beyond both religious mythologies and secular ideologies.
. . .
The only power on Earth that can stop the trend toward total war is the power of the human population declaring that it will not cooperate with this nihilistic culture of total war and the ideologies of total dominance.
This profound wisdom must urgently be made accessible to everyone on Earth and this is one of the immediate (and most important) projects for us all. We need to help get this wisdom to every single person we know and love. Truly. Every single person we know and love needs access to this wisdom, such that greater and greater numbers of people, soon to be billions of human beings, can participate in the “Global Cooperative Forum” – a unique global institution whose membership will ultimately be every single human being on Earth.
Global Cooperative Forum
A completely brilliant “blueprint” for the Global Cooperative Forum is spelled out in great and loving detail by the World-Friend, Adi Da, in his masterwork on human affairs, Not-Two Is Peace. Right leadership is clearly a key part of the manifestation of the Global Cooperative Forum, which leadership will come from those who are truly humanly mature and who already understand the current moment full well, such that they can immediately begin serving all others in the necessary process of self-correction and self-organisation that must take place in the total “Earth-system.” This leadership will arise out of the global and grassroots effort of human beings to manifest the Global Cooperative Forum. As the World-Friend, Adi Da, states [emphasis added throughout]:
The purpose of the Global Cooperative Forum is to ensure that the totality of humankind, or everybody-all-at-once, is participating in a global political reality, and demonstrating the self-organizing means for making it right and keeping it right.
Presently, the powers of the separate nation-state are being used to control populations all over the world.
The power of industry and money has actually become senior to the power of governments, and is now controlling the entire world.
The only power that can deal with these powers that are on the verge of destroying the Earth-world is everybody-all-at-once—meaning not merely mob power, but a new cooperative system for dealing with issues.
The efforts of separate nation-states and vested interests to control the people are not going to work forever. Sooner or later, the global population is going to demand a cooperative, benign situation.
That is why there needs to be a Global Cooperative Forum, in which all of humankind participates through right representation.
Such a Global Cooperative Forum would not be subordinate to a “tribalization” program imposed by nation-states, but would inform all of the existing political entities benignly and cooperatively.
Humankind has got to get down to its own business and choose itself—and the Global Cooperative Forum is the means to do that.
Humankind needs to be relieved of the burden of its past, and step beyond its past, like a butterfly out of a coccon, or like a snake shedding its skin.
The self-ordering system of humankind must be free to put itself in order. Humankind will self-organize itself if it is free to do so, and it must no longer be prohibited from so doing by the separate factionalisms of the “tribal” mind.
“Not-two” is peace. “Not-two” is prior unity [or the inherent unity of existence]. Conversely, “two” is separateness, prior dis-unity, “difference”, otherness, competitiveness, opposition, confrontation, chaos, and war.
In the “room” of humankind as a whole, the “room” of everybody-all-at-once, there is no “two”—there are no “flags”, no religions, and there is no “self”-imagery that may be exclusively asserted. Rather, humankind must simply represent itself, and get together to create a new global domain for human existence. This is the great project.
Yes! This is indeed the “great project” that all of us – all of humankind – must start to devote significant passion and energy towards if we want there to be any kind of positive and even remotely enjoyable future for all Earthkind. We are all in this together, so let us work together to help create a more benign future.
